The origins
A small inn on the road between Siena and Florence
In 1849, when Tuscany was still a Grand Duchy, Alcide Ancillotti opened his inn in Poggibonsi, making Hotel Alcide one of the oldest examples of family hotel tuscany history in the Val d'Elsa. A simple place, on the road for travellers between Siena and Florence. The very same places our guests come to visit today.

Alcide's inn
When Tuscany was still a Grand Duchy, Alcide Ancillotti opened his first inn in Poggibonsi. A stop for travellers between Siena and Florence.

Alcide's sons transform the inn into a hotel, expanding the building and adding the restaurant. The first rooms with private bathrooms.
Modernisation
